Exciting week ahead.
Right now I'm looking forward to what's to come next week. I get to play Melchior for five shows and the Bare album is going to be released shortly after that on the 25th of September.
It truly is such a blessing to be connected to both Peter and Melchior. Melchior is and would be my dream role on Broadway, so to be able to play it is indeed, always a dream come true. I am thrilled by the support from fans about me going on for the part and am so happy that so many of you plan to attend one of the shows that I will be on for. It's wonderful.
I cannot wait for Bare. I'm impatiently awaiting it as much as some of the biggest BARE heads. I know the album will be incredible because I have heard the other performers...but it's really going to be a remarkable thing when that final package is completed and released. It's work that I am extremely proud to be connected to. It was such an honor to be able to portray that role in any way.
Looking forward to next friday...saturday...sunday...and the tuesday after!

Man, you're just living the dream. :)
It's so amazing how quickly the time goes between recording-->releasing the album. I am SO excited.
i saw you today in spring awakening as melchior. you were amazing and the show was so great. =]
Matt, I saw SPRING AWAKENING on Friday night (Sept 21). You were sensational. I was seated in the 5th row. THEN I recognized that Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber and about 3 other theatre friends, I would say, were seated immediately to my left - and they ALL stood quickly to give you a standing ovation. I told some of the house staff afterward that Sir Andrew was in the audience. How great you were able to perform for him. Did you know he was there?!!!!
I am such a huge fan of BARE... i can't wait for it to come out... especially since it's coming out on my brithday!! i was hoping to pre-order it in time to have it for my trip up to NYC saturday... but the site isn't letting us yet... (i'm coming to to see SA and RENT as a birthday present to myself... i'll see you then!!)
I was there on Friday the 21st as well, and as I'm sure you've heard many many times, you were absolutely fantastic as Melchior! Not only was your voice beautiful, but your acting blew me away as well! Oh and I must say, your chemistry with Gerard as Moritz that night was amazing, especially since it was your first time going on opposite each other in those roles. I seriously cannot wait to see you go on in more roles, I'm sure I will love your interpretation of all of them as much as I loved your Georg and Melchior!
I'm very excited for the Bare album, I only know a little bit about the show, but I know that your role is a very important one, and I can't wait to have your voice captured on a CD!
I got to see you play Melchior at the matinee yesterday... you were breathtakingly awesome. I loved your take on the character and there were parts were you just surpassed Jon Groff by miles and miles and miles - and I love Jon so much. But you're the only person I really want to see play Melchior like. ever. You made me root for him and love him and want him to succeed and to live on. And your voice is so beautiful. Especially during the beating scene, I felt like it wasn't a performance - it was like I was really watching Melchior and Wendla together, looking in on a private moment between them. You become the character right in front of my eyes and it was wonderful.
I can't wait to get the Bare CD and I can't wait to see you in other roles, too! This comment probably makes no sense BUT DON'T JUDGE ME I am still kind of in shock over seeing the show again. I kind of always feel this way after seeing it. The next time you play Melchior, I'm definitely going to be there.
Hey! Lucky you,
I (a Frenchie) have found your blog because you have posted something about Alela Diane; and what a surprise it was when I read you were playing the leading role in my favorite play: The awakening of Springtime, by Wedekind!
Hope to see you soon on stage!!!
Can't wait for the Bare album. I hear the release date is being pushed back a bit, which is a bummer, but completely understandable. Hope all the shows have been going well! By reading people's comments, it looks like it is. :)

Okay, that promo clip on the Bare album website totally makes up for it not coming out today! You sound amazing, and now I can't wait to not only listen to the CD but to watch the DVD as well!
