Return To Joe's

So I can finally give all of the correct information on this!

My upcoming Joe's Pub concert will be taking place on April 21st at 7:00 PM.

What's really exciting about this show is that it is a bit of a test run for what I hope to do on the Album that I'd like to make this year. I have been so inspired by this new wave of musical theatre composers (which probably explains the concert OVERLOAD lately) that I want the music I sing on the 21st to be all about this next generation of writers. We're at another turning point in musical theatre. As a performer, it's incredibly exciting. As a fan, I want to make sure this music is heard. These are the composers of tomorrow!

I'm so thrilled to be collaborating with such brilliant writers, directors, producers, and musicians for this.

So here's the blurb from the website:

Matt Doyle, of Broadway’s Spring Awakening and Bye Bye Birdie, as well TV hit Gossip Girl, returns this April to Joe’s Pub with a unique follow-up to his two sold-out engagements last summer. Inspired by his passion for the up-and-coming writing talents of musical theatre, Matt’s all-new concert will highlight the most current, thrilling and innovative sounds of musical theater. The show will feature songs by writers like Kerrigan & Lowdermilk, Joe Iconis and Ryan Scott Oliver, and several other young composers.

The concert will be directed by Travis Greisler with musical supervision by Brian Lowdermilk, and is being produced by Katie Riegel (jokr productions) and Noah Cornman (Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records).

You may have noticed that no guests have been announced yet...We're still working on all of that. We've got over a month! This will be a much "bigger" show than my last one. My gigs in August were totally laid back and all about the music that had inspired me growing up. On April 21st, it will be about so much more than me. Expect backup singers, great guests...the whole deal. You will hear "hit" songs from these writers that you may already know, and songs that you've probably never heard before. If all that doesn't sound exciting, then expect a quirky pop-cover or two. Let's just say I may have a couple very unexpected numbers.

It's going to be a huge night and I couldn't be more excited. Get your tickets! Come scream your faces off! Get drunk (or don't)! Have a good time! I know I'm having a blast putting all of this together. I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.

GET YOUR TICKETS! HERE

Poster, guests and everything else still to come!

My name is Johanna and I live in Germany. (So I apologize for my English being as bad as it is *sigh*)

I noticed you the first time last summer, when I really got into Spring Awakening.
Since then I got kind of addicted to everything you did/do, especially Bare and of course SA.

I listen to Last Week's Alcohol on repeat for three days now and still can't get enough. I really hope you record this for your album! I can't even describe how wonderful you perform it.

I would like to see you in April, unfortunately I have no chance to come to New York. Personally I think the Atlantic Ocean is the only excuse to not see your show (I'm really sad about that, tough!).

I just wanted to thank you very much for being as great as you are, so: Thank you!

Johanna

I would LOVE IT if you made a new cd! I live in North Dakota which may as well be another world away from NYC. I saw you in Spring Awakening and fell in love with your voice. You have the voice of an angel with a face to match, and I wish you nothing but the best!

Maybe once you record the cd you could do a tour and stop in Minneapolis to let your midwestern fans show you some love : )

You are truly an inspiration! I hope that you have someone tape your show so that those who cannot make it to NYC can watch it. I wish I could but I live all the way out in Missouri :( I really hope you make an album this year! I'd be the first to buy it! Thank you for all you do.

Always a savior, never a phase.

Love, Olivia Parks

I just bought tickets! I can't wait! :) I've loved Kerrigan & Lowdermilk ever since I first heard Run Away With Me last year, so it's cool to hear you sing songs from them.

You should definitely schedule another performance as well. Though I have to say this comment is completely self-centered due to the fact that the only reason that I can't come to the preformance is that it's during my tech week. Have a great concert in any circumstance!

I'm so upset that tickets are sold out! I check back every day just to see if I read wrong haha. Maybe you're considering doing two shows back to back like you did last year?
