The Journey Continues

Hello everyone,

I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates.

On a personal note, this winter proved to be a major transitional period for me. I was not only busy, but I was also working hard on getting my feet back on the ground and my head in a good place. I wasn't sure if I'd return to my blog. I was thrilled to have my Twitter account for quick updates, but I found it very hard to bring myself to write more in depth on here. I have, however, decided to continue this blog and not shut it down.

So. Back at it.

So far the next few months are filled with Birdland concerts! I will be performing in 3 different concerts at the famous venue. I'm very excited to start that off with Katie Thompson's show this coming Monday, February 22nd. For those of you who don't know Katie Thompson...She's incredible. Her voice is astonishing. I will be singing a song written by her called "I know."

On March 1st, I am honored to be a part of a pretty incredible lineup for Lowdermilk and Kerrigan's concert. I adore these two and would drop anything to sing their music. This is not a show you want to miss. They are going to be doing some pretty cool things with their music.

The final Birdland show I'll be involved with will take place on April 12th. I'm thrilled to be a part of Scott Alan's show. He's a wonderful composer and someone I've always wanted to work with.

On top of the Birdland concerts, there should be another concert of my own on the way. I plan on doing a lot with music this year. I have been so fortunate to work with such talented new composers and I plan on making good use of that. There is a lot of exciting writing going on in this city. My ultimate goal this year is to release an album. I am working very hard to accomplish that. I will update you all more on that as it comes together.

I will have many more updates to come. I continue to have fun and work hard. I love this crazy world that I have chosen to be a part of and I can't wait to see what this next year will bring. It's a really exciting time for theatre...I do believe that. Theatre isn't slowly dying like every publication wants us to believe...it's just...trying to get it's feet on the ground again.

The last little announcement I have is that a new website really is finally in the works. I have new software! I am working on it. I promise...it will happen.

Until next time...which will not be 4 months from now ;)

Hey, I remember you! ;)

I'll be at the second and third concert (the latter is right around my birthday, too)! I'm so excited! They both sound awesome! And I'm excited for your potential album! Yay!

lol wow.. I completely forgot you had a blog until you showed up in my subscriber box thingo. I'm so excited to hear that you're working on getting an album out! Good luck with all of that, I'm sure it will be amazing. All of your concerts sound awesome and I wish I could go to at least one, but that will most likely never happen anytime soon.. unless you decide to randomly come to the most boring state of Australia one day.

Glad to hear you year's been good so far.. see you in just under 4 months :P

Give your self a little more credit, it's only been three months, not four, since your last update. ;)

So excited for the album!

Wow I am excited for you on behalf of all those concerts. I wish I could see them, but alas, living in upstate New York... Anyway what type of album do you think you will be working on?

Those concerts sound amazing! I'm especially excited about the Kerrigan-Lowdermilk one, because OH MY GOD, Vienna Teng. I've been a fan of hers for about five years, and when I saw she was going to be a guest at a concert full of music by my favorite new composers and sung by several of my favorite Broadway stars (plus The Spring Standards, <3)? It's like Santa Claus and Jesus and karma decided that I've been a Very Good Girl this year. I can't wait to see/hear/(or realistically, YouTube) how everything comes out. :)

Good luck with everything -- and the website! Maybe you could integrate this blog with your domain, too? I know it's really easy to publish to an external server via FTP (although there's some weird new Blogger implementation in effect).

ALSO. Theatre...dying? Never. >.<

First of all, it's good to hear from you again :)

The concerts sound fantastic, and I really admire that you're working with so many up-and-coming composers. Unfortunately the weeknight aspect makes it difficult for me to travel in from out of town, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'm able to make your solo show!

Good luck working on the album, and keep us updated!

Aww, nice to hear from you again Matt! I definitely hope you release that album, I was just talking about how I wish you'd release one a few days ago!

Really wish I could go to your concerts, sadly I'll be in the Great White North just wishing I were there. Hope you have fun though!

And I can't wait for your new website! You probably don't want your site in the hands of a fan, but if you ever need a web designer, I'm in the business and wouldn't mind building stuff for you =)

Matt, I'm so glad to see you writing on here again! Best of luck with everything. I hope I can make it to see one of your shows - especially a solo one! And an album will be amazing. I'll make everyone I know buy it haha. <3 Once again, good luck!

Very glad to hear you haven't abandoned the blog!

Hope to see you in more theatre this year and an album would be fan-TAS-tic. Make it happen, Doyle. :D

Why do they all have to be on a Monday! I would love to come and see you but Mondays are my heavy class days, including my night thesis class from 5-8. Do more on weekends so I can travel down to NYC! lol

I would be incredibly excited to own an album by you. Would it be just covers or are you going to attempt your hand at some lyric writing?
