BWW TV Exclusive...Part 2

In only one short week another video of myself went up on Broadwayworld.com

However, this time the video was about my experiences at Spring Awakening. It is a backstage interview with fellow swing Alexandra Socha.

This is very exciting for me! Check it out:

    BWW TV Exclusive!

I've been going to Broadwayworld.com...for years now!

I love that website. It was the first Broadway oriented website that posted press photos of me (when I was involved with a NYMF show last summer). Now it's the first Broadway oriented website to post a video of me!

The new bare clip is indeed out! But it's not on the website...

    Check it out.

    Weekend update

I went home for the weekend to get out of the city and get a breath of fresh air. It was a nice distraction. I've been dweling with an insane schedule, a new puppy, and a few other side projects. I don't feel overwhelmed in any way, but I don't think it's a smart idea to get caught up in you routine too much. You can start to feel buried by it all. Leaving the city feels great sometimes. Even a day away from it all can make you appreciate it that much more when you get back.

Exciting press releases on bare today. I've seen the new promo and it's absoloutely wonderful! Keep checking for it. It should be up soon.

    bare excitement

Every now and then it hits me just how outrageously excited I am for this album to come out. I know I have said this many times before but all of the performers on this thing are absoloutely incredible.

Like most of the fans, I too am desperately waiting to hear more. Being on another coast and away from all of the production, I don't get to hear much. All of these online promos are a blast for me to see as well.

It's been nearly two months since I recorded and yet every day I feel like I fall more in love with the material. It's such a remarkable piece. I am thrilled to see what happens with it all after the album has been released. Great music should live on...I'm so happy the music from bare is getting the opportunity to do so.

Swinging remains satisfyng. Tomorrow I play the role of Otto again. This means that within a period of about 4 weeks I covered every one of my tracks. That, my friends, is a feat! Haha.

It's nice to have so much to do. It's boring not to be on edge all the time. ;)

    Myspace Drama

So, let me explain the situation.

As many of you know, I have been facing a bit of drama on the Internet these days. It certainly hasn't been a very good week in terms of logging into my myspace account!

What has happened is someone has created a myspace account to look like mine (picture, and name) and has sent very lewd and offensive messages to my friends, fans, and co-workers. It has been an outrageous thing to have to deal with. The person has changed the story of what their identity is several times. They also believe that I have an idea of who they are. I'm sorry...but there are many fans of spring awakening. I haven't got the slightest clue. The only people who have information on that are the police. They also believe that I personally attacked them somehow. Due to my own, and my co-workers’ lack of knowledge of this, they are mistaken and clearly have misunderstood.

I know they are an avid fan of our show and I currently have investigators and the police looking into the situation. Once the identity and information (IP address...email) of this person is revealed, I have the right to (and will) file a restraining order against them. This means they will not be able to see our show again...let alone me.

After numerous threatening messages from this fake account (last night I received close to 30), I have felt unsafe...even at my own workplace. They have gone after oblivious fans and even some of my producers. The messages they write to people as "me" are always offensive, and at times disgusting.

Luckily, the people I work with know me, know who I am, and are able to turn a cold shoulder to it. They have all been incredibly helpful and supportive.

I shut down the first fake profile by reporting it to myspace, but that same evening this person created a new one. Trust me, for whatever reason they are determined. I no longer read the messages, as my account has been turned over to the authorities to control it for the time being...but it is because I haven't responded to this person that they persist so whole-heartedly. A response just isn't possible at this point. What they have done to me could never render communication.

So yes, I continue to be harassed. Again, I will say, if you have any information at all on who this person may be...please contact me via facebook, or through the REAL "Doyle" myspace. It is incredibly important that this is taken care of so I can feel safe again and create a safe place for my friends and fans to contact me.

Until that time, I will not be stagedooring. I sincerely apologize. I adore the opportunity to talk to you all every night, but for the time being, my main focus is getting home safe.

Thanks so much everyone...I am so sorry if you have already been a victim of this person's behavior.

    Matt

PS. You can help out by blocking the fake "Doyle" Myspace here:

    Last week

    was crazy!

As a swing, there a many times when you pause, realize how crazy your job is, and laugh.

Last week was my week to cover the role of Georg while Skylar is away shooting a film. Georg is a real treat to play. It is a major challenge for me, due to my lack of piano skills...however the payoff is wonderful. It's really a rush to sing that touch me solo...and the entire track is a lot of fun.

On Saturday I had quite the swing moment. I played Georg at the Matinee, however, when Johnny called out for the evening performance I had to switch tracks. I played Hanschen at the evening performance.

I just laughed. It was actually an exciting thing to accomplish that day. I got the call an hour before show time and headed back to the theatre. I went over some choreography and tried to re-gear my brain. What was so wonderfully refreshing is that my mind actually lived up to the task. Swinging is a learning process...always...and god knows I have had to learn a lot...but despite the mid-day switch, Hanschen went beautifully. Never better.

I think I have a lot to look forward to this winter. I'm excited to see what projects may end up springing up (or not springing up...because the winter months tend to be dead). It's so funny to think back on what I was doing last winter...looking for a survival job and things would work out after having turned down certain educational opportunities. Believe me, Spring Awakening has remained the best training any of us could have ever asked for.
